Devn Bhojani recently recounted an intriguing story from his early theatre days with Aamir Khan. Before their collaboration in the 1992 film ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’, Bhojani shared how an unforeseen event paved the way for Aamir’s debut role.
During Laksh Maheshwari’s podcast, Bhojani described their theatre days together, noting that Aamir usually worked backstage while Bhojani performed.They were part of a Gujarati play directed by Mahindra Joshi, who didn’t assign Aamir a role. When Bhojani was unable to join a tour due to work commitments, Aamir stepped in, marking his first stage performance.

Bhojani also recounted a touching moment from Aamir’s daughter Ira’s wedding, where Aamir warmly introduced him, saying, “I am here because of this guy.”

During his appearance on The Great Indian Kapil ShowAamir Khan shared his early experiences with Gujarati plays. He explained that his entry into acting was by chance, as he never succeeded in college auditions. Undeterred, he joined a Gujarati play but was removed due to missing rehearsals during a Maharashtra bandh. Disheartened, he was approached by two individuals to work on a diploma film for an FTII student. This led to further opportunities, and after appearing in these films, Ketan Mehta cast him in Holi. Following his performance in Holi, Mansoor Khan and Nasir Hussain decided to cast him in From doomsday to doomsday.
