He is also among the most bankable actors in the industry, case in point, ‘Animal’ directed by ‘Sandeep Reddy Wanga’. Since a lot of cross-pollination is happening in the entertainment industry, especially amongst the A-listers, Ranbir Kapoor had once opened up about his potential venture into Hollywood.
In a throwback video, Ranbir Kapoor unequivocally dismissed any immediate plans of pursuing a career in Hollywood. In an earlier conversation at Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares, Ranbir Kapoor expressed his contentment with contributing to Indian cinema. When asked about his Hollywood aspirations, he responded, “Mujhe Hollywood mein abhi interest nahi hai kyuki ek to main yaha apna naam banane ki koshish kar raha hoon. I want to contribute to Indian cinema.” He also emphasized the significance of representing one’s own culture and characters on a global platform, “I think if you really want to make a name worldwide, you should do it with your own culture and characters.”
Ranbir highlighted the success of films like ‘Crouching Tiger’, emphasizing the importance of cultural proximity in achieving global recognition. “Ang Lee hasn’t gone and made a film with Hollywood stars to break out in Hollywood. I think I am very happy with the way Indian cinema is shaping. I am very pleased with the new talent that’s coming in and the opportunities we all as actors are getting,” he said. The actor went on to add that the windows are open to everybody, and if there’s a good opportunity, he would love to do it.
