Sara Ali Khan reveals her mother Amrita Singh doesn’t know how to cook and drive but…’I’m not saying anything to the heroine of Mard’ | Hindi Movie News

Sara Ali Khan grew up with a single parent as Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan got divorced while she was growing up. Sara largely grew up with her mom who she says was handling everything single-handedly. Expressing how strong her mother is, Sara said during an interview that while her mother is a grounding factor for her and brother Ibrahim Ali Khan, she also gave them wings to fly.
The actress said that while growing up, she realised that her mom is not like her friends’ moms and felt bad, but here’s what happened one day. Sara told Galatta India, “While growing up, my mom was unlike any of my other friend’s moms. She doesn’t know how to drive and she doesn’t know how to cook. So I used to feel very bad. Till one day she turned around and said, ‘how many of your friend’s parents know how to act and ride horses? Because I do’. And I was like, I am literally never saying anything to the heroine of Mard ever again.”

For those not in the know, Amrita Singh was paired opposite Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Mard’. Sara further added that her mom made sure she was always there for them, kept them grounded and yet gave them wings to fly. Singh never made them feel the lack of anything and she did it all single-handedly.
During a chat with ETimes, Sara had said that growing up with a single mom also made her quite strong. “Living with a single mother has a huge role to play with it. At a very early age, I realised that loi aapke liye kuch karne nahi wala. Karenge but you are the mover, people will help you and the initiation has to come with you. If you’re lucky, the stars align, and with God’s will you get everything, but that initiation has to be with you. You can’t be waiting around for it, it doesn’t work like that,” said Sara.
