Abhishek Banerjee found acceptance as an actor with the audience after he connected well with them with his character Jana from Stree. Having started off as a casting director, Abhishek went on to do minuscule roles in films like Rang De Basanti, No One Killed Jessica and Go Goa Gone. With the kind of praise, he received for the performance in Stree, the actor is now excited to see how the audience connects with him in Street 2.
Talking about the second installment of the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor co-starrer, Abhishek says, “Stree is a hit franchise. People have accepted it and are hoping for something big this time. It tends to make you nervous because you know ki agar acceptance ho chuki hai toh expectations are much higher. However, it’s good to have a nervous energy going on when good work is coming. This franchise shows me in a comic space and it’s for the first-time people saw me in a different shade.”
He continues saying, “Stree 2 is also going to be bigger and double the kind of fun. All the actors are skin deep into their characters. I had a lot of fun with Apar (Aparshakti Khurana) and Shraddha. It was a reunion of sorts. I was telling my co-actors ki for me it was more of nostalgia as we landed up in the galiyas of Chanderi. It was my first film (as an actor in a prominent role). And first times are always special.” Sharing an update on Stree 2’s progress, the Bhediya actor signs off saying, “We are working on the post-production of the film. The VFX will take a lot of time. The director of the film Amar Kaushik is a perfectionist. He works on the film till the time he isn’t happy about it.” The film is set for an August 30 release.
