Karan Johar recently referred to Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan as the ‘two pillars’ of his career for the last 25 years. Karan assisted and had a small role in Chopra’s directorial debut, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, in 1995. The film featured SRK and Kajol in lead roles. Three years later, Karan cast both SRK and Kajol in his directorial debut, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.
Meeting Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan in life is destinyaccording to Karan.He said that they are the pillars and the two reasons why he is in his current position, adding that they recognized something about him that he didn’t see in himself. He added that he is always grateful to them for that, the rest was a lot of passion. But if he did not have such people in powerful positions like that, then it might have been really hard, Karan mentioned.

He further added that people can still make it entirely on their own because personal belief systems can be strong enough to combat all odds. But he calls himself fortunate for his struggles entering into his life later. The first step happened because of two people who were not related to him by blood or family but who believed in him strongly. Even if he calls it destiny, the filmmaker also added that nothing can be achieved without hard work.
He was attending the All India Management Association’s ninth National Leadership Conclave, where he was honored with the ‘Director of the Year’ award for 2023 for ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’.
