What’s the plot?
Queen of Tears narrates the story of Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won), a third-generation chaebol heiress of Queens Group, and Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyu), the son of farmers from Yongdu-ri. While on the verge of divorce, this couple discovers that Hong Hae-in is terminally ill, and their romance rekindles. Life throws another curveball at the couple as Hong Hae-in’s family loses their grand group in family politics.
The latest episode saw Hong Hae-in getting operated to cure her cancer, but in the process, she loses her memory. While a bitter conspiracy lands Baek Hyun-woo behind bars. The lovers have been separated and the circumstances have changed… leaving fans desperately praying for a happy ending!
Will Hong Hae-in regain her memories and reunite with Baek Hyun-woo?
‘Queen of Tears’ is written by Park Ji-eun, the brains behind numerous hit Korean dramas. Interestingly, her last two ventures, The Legend of the Blue Sea (2016) and Crash Landing on You (2019-2020) were massively popular, with the latter one gaining cult global status. The common factor between these two dramas was a pleasing, positive conclusion. So if Park Ji-eun continues with her ‘happy ending’ streak (we are hoping she does) then be rest assured that nothing’s separating Hyun-woo and Hae-in!
What will be the plot twist in Episodes 15 and 16?
Episodes 13 and 14 have left several intriguing loose ends… with the major one being Hae-in’s memory. The preview hinted that blurred bits of Hae-in’s memory are rushing back and a reunion could well be planned for Episode 16. Meanwhile, Yoon Eun-sung (Park Sung-hoon) is desperately trying to keep Hyun-woo behind bars, but Hyun-woo’s competent lawyer friends will make sure that he is out of danger. At the end of this eight-week run, all bits of the puzzle are adding up for a broken but a beautiful narrative. Unless the makers have a major plot twist up their sleeve, be rest assured that ‘Queen of Tears’ will have a happy ending!
