In an interview with PTI, Sanjay Leela Bhansali expressed his disappointment about not being able to persuade Madhuri Dixit to work in two of his films.He revealed that he had been wanting to direct her since his early films like ‘Khamoshi’ but couldn’t get through to her. Despite his efforts during ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, he couldn’t cast her until ‘Devdas‘.
‘Devdas’ was a truly classic movie by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It had a fantastic cast including Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan, Kirron KherDina Pathak, and more. The film’s sets were incredibly grand and caught a lot of attention. Unfortunately, the movie went over budget, and part of the set even caught fire. In an old interview, Bhansali mentioned how some people thought the project was cursed and advised him to drop it.

Meanwhile, the filmmaker’s upcoming grand project, ‘The Constitution,’ boasts a stellar cast with names like Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Fardeen KhanShekhar Suman, and more. The film delves into the lives of courtesans, promising an intriguing storyline. Interestingly, initially, Sanjay had contemplated including Madhuri Dixit in the project. However, due to differences over creative aspects of the script, neither the actress nor the filmmaker could align on the same page, leading to the plan being shelved.
