Anushka Sharma turns a year older today, 16 years ago she entered the industry with Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. Since then she went on the become one the most promising new actors in the business thanks to her films like ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, ‘PK’, ‘Jab Tak Hai Haan’, ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, ‘Sultan’ etc. But it has now been more than six years that her fans have seen her in a full fledged role, her last was Aanand L Rai’s ‘Zero’ which featured her with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.
Anushka was supposed to make her comeback with a biopic on Indian Women cricketer Jhulan Goswamibacked by her brother Karnesh Sharma and directed by Prosit Roy. After months of rigorous training the film went on floors in June 2022 and wrapped in December 2022. Anushka had taken to Instagram to announce the completion of the film, she wrote , “It’s a wrap on #ChakdaXpress, and thank you @JhulanGoswami for the final clap to bring an end to the shoot!” . The film was supposed to stream directly on Netflix.
But last month Netflix held a big event to announce its movie slate for the year and once couldn’t find the mention of Chakda Express anywhere in the list. It was reported that the film has hit a roadblock due to budget issues and creative disagreement. ETimes in its exclusive report shared that both the parties had mutually reached an agreement to cancel their partnership. Source had revealed that the platform had not liked the way the project had shaped up and had also gone over budget. At this point in time the film is still lying in the cans and the makers of the film are looking for a new platform to release the film.
