After delivering projects like ‘Monica‘, ‘O My Darling’, ‘Tarla’, and ‘Maharani‘, actress Huma Qureshi turned to television with the comedy show ‘Madness Machayenge: India Ko Hasayenge’. The show was brought in as a replacement for Kapil Sharma’s show as he moved his show to Netflix. But if rumors are to be believed, curtains are being dropped on the show by the channel.
A source close to the development has exclusively shared with ETimes that the channel will soon pull the plug on the show because of its low TRPs. Our source also added that the channel had planned the show as a stop-gap option with a limited number of episodes, as they were planning on a much bigger show to replace the gap, but the show is being called off even before the pre-decided number of episodes could be completed. Currently, the channel is in talks with one of the most prolific stand-up comics to come on the channel with his show.
The show is currently in the middle of a controversy as Maverick producer-director Karan Johar called out an act on the show. He took to Instagram to share his views on the act wherein he felt that he was being portrayed in poor taste. He wrote, “I was sitting and watching television with my mom… and saw a promo of a reality comedy show on a supposedly respectable channel… a comic was mimicking me in exceptionally poor taste… I expect this from trolls and faceless and nameless people, but when your own industry can disrespect someone who has been in the business for over 25 years, it speaks volumes about the times we live in. This doesn’t even anger me; it just makes me sad.” The actor who portrayed Karan Johar on the show has now apologized to the director.
