On the day of the third phase of polling for the Lok Sabha elections, actor and TV personality Shekhar Suman has provided a boost to the BJP by joining the party.
Addressing the media at the party headquarters on Tuesday, Shekhar expressed his gratitude to God for guiding him to join the BJP in the presence of senior BJP leaders like National General Secretary Vinod Tawde and National Media Department In-Charge Anil Baluni.He revealed that he hadn’t anticipated this decision until the previous day.
The actor said that even he did not know until yesterday that he would be sitting here. A lot of things happen in life. Sometimes people don’t know what people are supposed to do and people get directions from above and follow them. He has come here with a positive outlook, and I thank God for directing him.
Suman further said that people have to follow what Lord Ram has said. He doesn’t have any negative thoughts; he is thinking only about the country. A man depends on his words, but they have no meaning beyond a point. But there is a difference between saying something and doing it. Suman also said that he can give a long address, but it will mean anything only after he has done something.
In May 2009, Shekhar Suman contested the Lok Sabha election from Patna Sahib on a Congress ticket but was defeated by BJP’s Shatrughan Sinha, finishing in third place.
Shekhar Suman, renowned as both a comedian and actor, enjoyed immense popularity during the late ’90s and early 2000s. At the peak of his career, he was one of the highest-paid TV actors in India. His acting repertoire includes notable films such as ‘Utsav’, ‘Naache Mayuri’, ‘Tridev’, and ‘Ranbhoomi’, among others.
Shekhar recently appeared in ‘Heeramandi,’ portraying the character of Nawab Zulfiqar, who is Manisha Koirala’s love interest. While his performance in the show has garnered praise, some netizens have expressed the sentiment that he deserved more screen time in the period drama.
