Breaking records and making headlines, ‘The Roundup: Punishment’ has soared past the 10 million moviegoer mark, solidifying its place in cinema history. On May 15, the Korean Film Council revealed that as of 7:30 a.m. KST, ‘The Roundup: Punishment’ had officially surpassed 10 million admissions at the Korean box office. What’s more astounding is that it achieved this feat in just 22 days since its release on April 24.
This milestone isn’t just impressive; it’s historic. Not only is ‘The Roundup: Punishment’ the fastest film of 2024 to reach the 10 million mark, but it also marks the third installment in the ‘The Roundup’ franchise to achieve this milestone, following in the footsteps of ‘The Roundup’ (also known as ‘The Outlaws 2’) and ‘The Roundup: No Way Out’. Additionally, it’s the quickest film in the entire ‘The Outlaws’ series to hit this milestone.
‘The Roundup: Punishment’ joins an elite club as the second fastest Korean movie ever to reach 10 million viewers, with only the 2019 comedy hit ‘Extreme Job’ achieving this feat in a shorter span of 15 days. Furthermore, it’s only the 24th Korean film in history to accomplish this monumental box office success.
This crime action entertainer stars Ma Dong-seok, Kim Mu-yeol, Park Ji-hwan and Lee Dong-hwi and is the fourth installment in ‘The Roundup’ series, a sequel to ‘The Roundup: No Way Out’ (2023).
