Sajid Khanknown for his appearances on the popular television show, recently sat down for an interview with ‘Timeout With Ankit’. During the conversation, he opened up about his early life struggles and reflected on his journey in the entertainment industry.
In a candid revelation, Sajid Khan shared that he was initially signed as the host for ‘Antakshari’ before Annu Kapoor.Recalling his early days, he disclosed, “I used to perform in college shows, earning Rs. 200 to Rs. 300. Then, in the early ’90s, when Zee TV started, I auditioned for Antakshari. I showcased my skills in mimicry, singing, dancing, DJ-ing, and more. Fortunately, I was selected as the host for Antaksharimarking my first breakthrough on television. But before the shoot of the first episode, I ran away. That was the most unprofessional thing I have done in my entire life.”
When questioned about his decision, he candidly admitted, “Meri bahut fatt gayi thi! I knew that the show was going to be a blockbuster. I felt that I’d be known as the guy who hosted ‘Antakshari’. Thank God they took someone so versatile as Annu Kapoor. He’s a fine actor and has a very big personality. He made sure that ‘Antakshari’ became his; he did not become Antakshari’s. That wouldn’t have happened to me. I wanted to be known as ‘host and dost, Sajid Khan’.”
On the work front, Sajid Khan started his directorial career with the hit ‘Heyy Baby‘ and continued his success streak with ‘Housefull’, ‘Housefull 2’, and ‘Himmatwala’.
