Rajkummar Rao recently engaged in a lively chat with Karan Johar and his ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ co-star Janhvi Kapoordiscussing their film and acting experiences. In the conversation, the actor disclosed to Karan about facing competition from star kids and losing out on film opportunities as a result.
Karan discussed the insider-outsider debate, expressing skepticism about some individuals using it for publicity.He mentioned instances where successful people claim to have faced discrimination as outsiders or lost opportunities to star kids. He questioned the idea of parties being venues for film transactions.

Rajkummar shared with Karan that upon arriving in Mumbai, he too encountered pressure to attend parties for networking. While he acknowledged the importance of connections, he expressed frustration at losing a film role overnight to a star kid with influential connections. He emphasized the unfairness of such situations, regardless of the individual’s insider or outsider status.

In an interview with Ranveer Allalhabadia, Rajkummar had previously discussed losing a film role to an outsider before Karan brought it up in their recent interaction. When asked if nepotism played a role in his removal from the film, Rajkummar admitted to the incident but expressed his preference for moving forward. He also mentioned that it was somewhat karmic that the film in question never materialised.
