Recalling his conversation with Yash Chopra, Manoj told Bollywood Bubble, “No, he didn’t make a promise but said that he doesn’t make films of my kind. He doesn’t make films for people like me, so how could he promise me anything? And I found that very honest. He didn’t want to give me false hope. At the same time, he had a lot of respect for me as an actor,” Manoj shared.
Yash Chopra’s candidness and respect for Manoj’s work left a lasting impression. “He really liked my work and also said that as long as Veer Zaara exists, my praise will continue, which is true. Wherever I go, people talk about it,” Manoj added.
The tag of OTT ka king makes me uncomfortable, says Manoj Bajpayee
Previously, in his interview with Humans of Bombay, Manoj mentioned that Veer Zaara provided him with an opportunity to work with his old friend Shah Rukh Khan. He has known Shah Rukh for many years since their days in Delhi, so Veer Zaara provided an opportunity for them to catch up.
As they belong to two different kinds of films and filmmaking, they don’t meet often. It was a chance for Manoj to reconnect with Shah Rukh and enjoy being on the sets of Yash Chopra. Manoj grew up watching Chopra’s films and cherished their long conversations. Yash ji was very clear with Manoj, saying, “I don’t make films for an actor like you, so I don’t think I would have anything else in the future, but this is very good and it will be great if you agree to do it.” Manoj found him to be a very humble man.
