Do you remember Jai and Aditi’s cute love story from ‘You know or you don't know’? Yes, we are referring to the best friends who realize they were meant to be together after dating someone else. The film was released in 2008 and starred Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza in the lead roles.
Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah played significant roles in the film as well.Over the years, many fans have expressed over time that they would love to see a ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ sequel. Recently, Imran Khan talked about the possibility of a sequel to the romantic film.
During a conversation with India Today, Imran Khan expressed his thoughts on whether he would like to see Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’s sequel in the future. The actor stated that since the 2008 film isn’t “plot-driven,” a sequel isn’t necessary.
Imran shared, “In Jaane Tu, it’s a kind of film where characters’ emotional journeys is the culmination of the plot and because of that, to have a sequel you have to then reopen their emotionality which may or may not work. Sequels generally are for plot-driven films, not character-driven films (sic).”
Imran referred to the ‘Spiderman’ films and said, “Like in action franchise, Spiderman has to swap the bad guy at the end of the film. One bad guy, another bad guy…So because it’s plot-driven, you can always make another (sic).”
The actor further talked about the sequel of ‘JTYJN’ and stated, “The one where your entire journey is a character journey and the journey of these characters finding love, finding who they are, and finally ending up here (together). The only way to readdress it, i.e. to poke that, open it up, and make it. I don’t know if that works (sic).”
For the unversed, Imran Khan began his career as a child artist in Bollywood with films like 'Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar' and 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak'. He made his debut as a lead actor with 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' opposite Genelia D'Souza. He has also worked in films like 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola', 'I Hate Luv Storys', 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan', 'Delhi Belly' and others.
