Randeep Hooda‘s portrayal of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in “Swatantra Veer Savarkar,” which he also directed, has been highly praised. However, the film has not connected as strongly with audiences compared to other nationalistic films like “Article 370” and “The Kerala Story.” The film did manage to earn about Rs 6.34 crore in the second weekend taking the total collection of the film to Rs 17.69 crore.The film has a reported budget of Rs 20 crore.
In the first week, the film minted just Rs 11.35 crore and started the second weekend on a good note where it collected Rs 1.1 crore on Friday, Rs 1.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.75 crore on Sunday, but Monday onwards the film has been on a downward trajectory.
On Monday it earned Rs 60 lakhs, while on Tuesday and Wednesday it added Rs 50 lakhs respectively into its kitty and on Thursday, the film as per early estimates by Sacnilk, earned just Rs 39 lakhs. Going by the performance, the road ahead for the post post the weekend looks difficult. Also older films like Crew, Shaitaan and Madgaon Express and Hollywood’s The First Omen will also be fighting it out to get the audience’s attention.
Besides Randeep, Swatantra Veer Savarkar, also starred TV's superstar Ankita Lokhande Rajesh Khera and Amit Sial in pivotal roles.
