Ajay Devgn‘s sports drama ‘field‘ witnessed a big drop in numbers at the box office on Monday after emerging as the highest-earning film on Sunday.
After completing its second week at the box office, the film saw collections drop under Rs 1 crore for the first time. According to early estimates on Sacnilk.com, the movie earned just Rs 80 lakh on Monday.
The sports film which had an extended run in theatres thanks to the Eid holiday, began its second weekend on a sluggish start, earning just around Rs 1.45 crore on Friday. However, its numbers shot up on Saturday to earn an estimated Rs 2.65 crore. It earned its highest collections on Sunday, raking in an estimated Rs 3.25 crore.
‘Maidaan’ amassed an estimated collection of Rs 7.35 crore, showcasing a remarkable performance. The consistent growth in box office numbers over the weekend provided a significant boost to ‘Maidaan’. However, the film has been unable to maintain this momentum throughout the working week to ensure continued success.
The film has been facing competition from films like Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff‘s ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, ‘Maidaan’, but managed to take the lead over the weekend.
Made on a budget of Rs 100 crore and facing multiple delays before its Eid release, ‘Maidaan’. Much credit is attributed to Ajay Devgn’s compelling performance and the engaging narrative of the film. With positive reviews and encouraging audience response, the sports drama is poised to further elevate its performance, especially with no major new releases posing a threat to its box office collections.
