Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali joins Bill Hader, Ali Wong, JJ Abrams for dinner ahead of premiere; sparks rumours of Heeramandi contending in 2025 Hollywood award shows |

As the clock ticks down to the grand premiere of Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s web series ‘The Constitution: The Diamond Bazaar’, the director attended a dinner party hosted by Ted Sarandos ahead of the release of his debut series, today, May 1.
In a photo shared online Bhansali can be seen in his usual black kurta, standing with Hollywood actor Bill Hader and ‘Star Wars’ producer JJ Abrams.Also seen at the dinner party was Golden Globe-winning actress Ali Wong who had a clean sweep at the awards show this year, for her role in the web series ‘Beef’.

The photo of the director with the Hollywood heavyweights has sparked off rumours that the show could just become a strong contender at next year’s awards shows, including the Emmy Awards and Golden Globe awards.

Previously, the Netflix-backed series ‘Delhi Crime’ bagged a prestigious television award, while the documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ won the Oscars in 2023.
Prior to the dinner soiree, Bhansali took over the red carpet for a grand premiere launch in Los Angeles. He was joined by leading lady Sharmin Segal.

Set in pre-Independence India, the big-budget show, which is set to premiere on May 1, revolves around the lives of courtesans living in the red-light district of Heeramandi in Lahore. The period drama series, also stars Manisha KoiralaSonakshi Sinha, Richa ChadhaSharmin Segal, Aditi Rao Hydariand Sanjeeda Shaikh.
