Swara Bhasker: ‘Kangana Ranaut often speaks in support of the government, I have focused on questioning those in power’

The rift between Kangana Ranaut and Swara Bhasker stems from Kangana’s past remarks, including labeling Swara as a ‘B-grade actor‘ and suggesting that their disagreements on various issues have strained their relationship. The two actors had collaborated on Tanu Weds Manu in 2011 and its sequel Tanu Weds Manu Returns in 2015. Now, in her latest interview, Swara has shed light on their contrasting perspectives.
Clarifying the dynamics between her and Kangana, Swara told Ishan Verma, “I just want to point out that a lot of people say ‘Kangana and you, Kangana and you’, but there is a big difference.” She pointed out their different approaches to voicing opinions, mentioning that while Kangana often speaks in support of the government, Swara focuses on questioning those in power.

In 2021, Swara mocked Kangana’s claims about kickstarting the feminism movement through her film Queen. In response, Kangana accused Swara of siding with movie mafias over issues like nepotism in Bollywood and the investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
Meanwhile, Swara, who tied the knot with politician Fahad Ahmad in February 2023, announced her pregnancy in June. They became parents to a baby girl in September the same year. The couple has named her Raabiyaa.

Kangana had sent her best wishes to Swara on her wedding with Fahad, to which Swara reciprocated with happiness and joy. On the other hand, Kangana has joined politics and she will be contesting from the Mandi seat in Lok Sabha elections 2024.
