Veteran actress Shabana Azmi has graced the entertainment industry for an impressive five decades. While addressing the pay disparity in the industry, she emphasized that actors these days should be ready to play supporting roles in women-led cinema to compensate for what all actresses did all these years. If a female-centric movie can win at the box office, then the pay disparity would be diminishing to a great extent.
Shabana won five National Film Awards for Best Actress, and she was honored with the Padma Shri in 1998 and the Padma Bhushan in 2012. She debuted with Shyam Benegal’s ‘Ankur’ in 1974. The actress was last seen in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani,’ starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.
