The negativity escalated to the extent that Sharmin temporarily disabled comments on her social media post featuring a picture with her uncle, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, taken at the Los Angeles premiere of Heeramandi.
Despite the criticism, her co-stars including Aditi Rao HydariShruti Sharma among others have come forward in Sharmin’s support. Adhyayan Sumanwho plays a pivotal role as a nawab in the historical drama series, has now expressed empathy towards Sharmin’s situation. In his interview with News18, Adhyayan hinted at his own experiences of facing criticism and scrutiny in the industry, and the challenges faced by actors, especially star kids.
Addressing the personal attacks directed at Sharmin, Adhyayan condemned such behavior as unfair and detrimental to an artist’s morale. He mentioned that while viewers have the right to critique performances, resorting to personal attacks crosses a line and can deeply affect an individual’s confidence and career trajectory.

“Not everyone can fight their way out of it. I don’t want to boast about myself but not everyone who has seen a lull for 13 years in a career spanning 15 years can come fighting out of it. It’s not easy. Some people might want to give up and not pursue their careers. And that’s why it’s not fair,” he shared.
Adhyayan also stressed the importance of second chances and the need to foster an environment where artists feel encouraged to continue pursuing their dreams despite setbacks. “I’ve learnt that you can’t buy the audience’s love. The power of organic love is insane and you’ve to slowly and steadily work towards gaining their trust and love. It will happen because it happened to me,” he concluded.
