Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap said his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap‘s wedding budget is as much as one of his films. He also recalled his own marriage at 24, admitting he and his then-wife, Aarti Bajaj, were not ready for it and later regretted it.
During the podcast, Aaliyah complained about her father rescheduling the recording. Anurag explained that he was busy preparing for his next film shoot.Aaliyah interrupted, asking, “Is that more important than your daughter?” Anurag responded, “I have a wedding coming up. Somebody’s getting married, and the budget for that is equivalent to one of my low-budget movies.”
Anurag Kashyap’s daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap, got engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Shane Gregoirein 2023. They plan to get married in 2025.
When Anurag mentioned the budget of Aaliyah’s wedding, she responded, “It’s okay. I am your only daughter. I feel like you can make an exception. You are lucky you don’t have more children, so you don’t have to do this again and again. I am your only child, so it’s one and done. It’s fine. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing.”
Anurag told Aaliyah that he is happy as long as she is happy. When she asked how he feels about her getting married, he said, “I am happy and also feel the world has changed so much. I also got married when I was your age, but we were not as wise as you guys are.”
Earlier, at an event in Kolkata, Anurag spoke about not spending enough time with his daughter during her childhood. He said, “I have not spent as much time with my daughter as I should have because, at the time, my entire focus was on cinema. I was very passionate. The more you grow in life, the more the more you realize that the most valuable thing is to spend time with family, keep your good friends close, and learn to be happy. And I have reached that point in life.
Anurag Kashyap recently made a cameo appearance in Lokesh Kanagaraj‘s ‘Leo,’ alongside Thalapathy Vijay. He is also rumored to direct a Tamil-Hindi bilingual film featuring music director-actor GV Prakashwhich will mark GV’s Bollywood debut.
