However, his breakout role as Merle Jeeter in Norman Lear’s TV series ‘Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman ‘ propelled him to prominence. Subsequently, his portrayal of Franklin Hart in “9 to 5” solidified his status as a quintessential comedic villain.
