Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khanwho gave his breakthrough performance in Abbas-Mustan’s ‘Baazigar’, was cast in this role after a number of well-known actors from the era rejected the part for being too negative. Among the many other notable scenes from the film, fans frequently mention SRK’s Zorro-like appearance in the film’s title song, where he is seen riding a horse while wearing a black cape, hat, and mask.In a recent interview, Abbas-Mustan disclosed that in reality, it was SRK’s body double, who actually shot the scene.
Since Shah Rukh has frequently expressed his fear of horses, Abbas and Black were asked in a fan interaction hosted by Radio Nasha if SRK fell off the horse during the song’s filming. The director duo replied that since SRK’s face was hardly visible in that scene, they actually shot the parts with the horse using a body double in SRK’s place. “He was wearing a robe, a hat and a mask on his face and his eyes were covered. The horse riding was done by the horse owner, a body double,” revealed Mustan.
He further added, “When the song ends, when he turns and goes away from the camera, he is going down a slope, there is no horse there but Shah Rukh just acted as if he is riding a horse. No one can believe that he is not riding the horse. That’s how well he has performed.”
During the same conversation, another fan pointed out to Abbas-Mustan that Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan earned their respective nicknames, ‘Khiladi’ and ‘Baadshah’, because of Abbas-Mustan films. The fan further proposed that the filmmakers should consider planning a Baazigar sequel in which Khiladi and Baadshah might collaborate. “Sequel ka zamana hai (It’s the time for sequels),” they said. Upon hearing their suggestion, Mustan quickly responded, “Aapke paas kahani hai toh dijiye. Zaroor banayenge (If you have a story, please give. We’ll make).”
