Chunky Pandey and Akshay Kumar have shared screen space in the ‘Housefull‘ franchise but the duo have known each other for many years. They have known each other when they were together in an acting class and Chunky was Akshay’s senior. In a recent interview, Chunky had recalled memories with Akshay and showered praise on him. Interestingly, Akshay is now set to share screen space with Chunky’s daughter Ananya Blacksmith.
Chunky said that him and Akshay have bonded like a house on fire. “I have known him since 1986 when we were in Madhumati class. Before teachers, the senior students used to train juniors, and so I taught many things to Akshay Kumar,” said the actor in an interview with Lehren.
The ‘Aankhen’ actor further added that he always knew Akshay would be a star. He said, “When I saw Akshay Kumar for the first time, I knew he was a star even as a kid. We get along like a house on fire and now even Ananya is doing a film with him. It is a pleasure to have him on sets because he improvises a lot. He improvises for everyone, which is good. He likes to create and make scenes.”
In an earlier interview, Akshay had laughed about being trained by Chunky and said, “Whatever I learnt, I learnt initially through Chunky Pandey, and that was so wrong that my films did not work. So I decided to change. Whatever Chunky taught me, I unlearned and then learned something else again, and that’s how I became Akshay Kumar,” joked the ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ actor.
Akshay’s film with Ananya is titled ‘Shankara’ and it is about a lawyer’s fight against the British rule to expose Punjab Lieutenant Governor Michael O’Dwyer’s involvement in the tragic 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Meanwhile, at the moment, Akshay is shooting for ‘Jolly LLB 3’ and ‘Welcome To The Jungle’.
