Neena Guptawho is often been tagged as a ‘bold’ and ‘rebel star’ for having a daughter, Masaba Guptawith cricketer Vivian Richards out of wedlock. She recently shared her thoughts on the labels that have followed her throughout her career and said that she herself does not resonate with these titles.
Expressed her bemusement over the media’s portrayal of her as a rebel, Neena told News18, “I don’t know why they call me a rebel; I’ve even played innocent roles.I haven’t done strong or glamorous roles. I think they say this because the media has created an image of me. Because I am a single motherthey have created this image. In an interview, I said when I die, they’ll write, ‘The bold Neena Gupta is no more.’ I mean, even then they won’t leave me alone. So, it’s okay, I don’t care.”
Neena Gupta has portrayed a wide range of characters on screen, often playing the roles of a mother and grandmother. Now, she is set to embrace the role of a grandmother in her personal life as her daughter, fashion designer Masaba Gupta, is expecting her first child.

Passing down wisdom, Neena revealed the most important advice she has given her daughter. “I always told her (Masaba) that family is the most important thing in life. No matter how high you reach in your career, if you don’t have a home to return to, it’s all meaningless. So, I always tell her to always build her family.”
Masaba tied the knot with Satyadeep Mishra in January 2023. The couple shared the news of their pregnancy on Instagram in April this year. Masaba was previously married to producer Madhu Mantena. The couple got married in June 2015 and announced their separation in 2019. Satyadeep was previously married to actor Aditi Rao Hydari from 2009 to 2013.

Neena, on the work front, is all set to reprise her role as Manju Devi in the highly anticipated third season of Panchayat.
