The topsy-turvy journey of Geroge Miller’s Angry: A Mad Max Sagaa prequel to the 2015 superhit film Mad Max: Fury Road has finally settled itself in India. The film in its first weekend earned Rs 9.27 crore after going through rise and falls in its collection. On Monday the film showed resilience and dropped only by 53 % to collect Rs 1.17 crore and on Tuesday the numbers showed a growth to collect Rs 1.23 crore.And on Wednesday the film managed to hold on to the good numbers on Tuesday to collect Rs 1.1 crore, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 12.79 crore. The film will manage to cross Rs 14 crore mark by tonight and in all likelihood add another Rs 3 to Rs 5 crore over the weekend.
The film is experiencing a decent to below-average performance at the box office. Despite having a budget of $168 million and receiving glowing reviews from critics in the US and worldwide, it has only managed to earn $68 million in its first week.
In the US, the film was released during Memorial Day weekend and, as predicted, earned approximately $32 million. While it topped the charts for the weekend, it marked the lowest collection for Memorial Day since “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” which had collected $33.9 million.
The film stars Anya Taylor-Joyshe steps into the shoes of Charlize Theron to play the role of Furiosa while Chris Hemsworth plays the negative lead Dementus.
