The actor says, “I think it’s a conscious decision and I feel I want to do a lot more in my films and shock, surprise the audience. I’m trying different things but I’m not seeing it that way. I’m going for the right scripts which I feel is unique or has some resonance to it. that’s why when I heard the script of ‘Chandu Champion’ for the first time, I felt like I want to watch it on screen.”
Ask him at what point did he feel, the perception towards him changed because he found himself in a position where he was offered these parts. Kartik points out, “I believe in manifestation. I manifest in everything. Be it ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ or ‘Lukka Chhupi’, or Freddy’, ‘Dhamaka’, ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ and now this. I’ve been lucky in getting such opportunities and varied roles but a lot of work goes behind it, in even finding such roles. May be, I’m manifesting a lot and hence these things are happening in my life. ‘Chandu Champion’ is one film I wanted to do always – you cannot categorise it into one category as a sports drama or a biopic. It’s a human triumph story. It’s so beautiful to perform and portray the character of Murlikant Petkar ji.”
Kartik also thanks his fans all over social media who support him and he’s in return constantly pursuing their validation. He adds, “I’m lucky to have these fans and this beautiful relationship with them. I never imagined that something like this would happen in my life. The way fans support my films and want them to work is so unreal. I’m just trying to get their validation again and again. I want to add that shock or surprise value to all my films every time they see me.”
‘Chandu Champion’ directed by Kabir Khan is set to release on June 14.
