Ashmit explained that the scene required him to simulate choking her and he had used a technique suggested by Naseeruddin Shah to ensure safety. Ashmit Patel: I don’t mind going back into Bigg Boss as a wild card entry or as a guest

He described his method acting approach, where he maintained a certain distance from Mallika to preserve on-screen tension. This approach might have been misunderstood, as Mallika attempted to break the ice several times. Reflecting on the incident, he suggested that better communication with director Anurag Basu might have prevented the misunderstanding.
During the film’s promotions, the tension persisted. Mallika was paired with Emraan, while Ashmit was relegated to lesser-known publications. “She was very ahead of her time, she knew how to play the PR game, and she took away a lot of the credit for the film, which neither me nor Emraan nor Anurag Basu get… During promotions, I was sent to the not-so-big publications, which left a bad taste in my mouth, it upset me a little bit. But that’s the game,” he said.

Murder, which became a box office hit and launched Emraan and Mallika into stardom, eventually spawned two sequels. Ashmit continued his career with various film roles and gained further recognition through reality show appearances.
