On Tuesday, Diljit Dosanjh along with Neeru Bajwa, Jasmin Bajwa, writer-director Jagdeep Sidhu, and the producers were in Mumbai for the trailer launch of the ‘Jatt & Juliet 3’. Talking to the media, Diljit revealed the story behind the beloved Punjabi rom-com. He mentioned that it was Darshan Grewal who reached out to him for the first installment of the movie, and back then he was not on good terms with him and wanted to reject the film.

“I wanted to go, meet Darshan paji, and say no to him for the movie in his face. However, when we met, he in a filmy way signed a blank cheque and asked me to fill in an amount of my choice and said he wanted to a movie with me. I wasn’t expecting this,” exclaimed Diljit Dosanjh.
Diljit’s next step was to consult his then-manager. Upon discussion they concluded that Gurdas Maan at that time was the highest-paid actor in Punjabi cinema, so they asked the producers to match his amount. Diljit was at peace with the fact there were possible chances that Darshan might not agree to the said amount.
“So we filled in the amount with TDS, and Darshan paji said add another lakh in it, we have to do this film,” recalled Dosanjh.

Thereafter, the actor was sent to Canada for shooting, and the producer ran out of money. That is when a second producer came in. Diljit humorously mentioned that when the second producer also ran short of funds, that is when the third producer came into play.
However, jokes aside, in the end, Diljit did pay an honest tribute to Darshan Grewal, without whom the ‘Jatt & Juliet’ franchise would have not been created.
